They 159/10 in 33.2 overs (Main 50, Khalid 39, Saurav Sen 5/29, Gabriel Thomas 2/38)
We    162/2 in 25.2 overs  (Tim Keleher 73, David Behar 30, Amit Shanker 26*, Rohan Ghosh 22*, Pandit 1/19)

Egham played hosts to KCC after our fixture against the Crossbatters was unfortunately cancelled.  After winning the toss and electing to bat on a rock hard track, the hosts started off  like a freight train.  Openers Main and Khalid put on 80-odd in no time and looked well set to put on 800 more.  However, retrieving cricket balls from all quarters of Slough on a fine summer’s day was clearly not on the agenda of our spin lords Gabriel and Saurav, and they soon set about restoring order.  As the Egham youngsters began an ill-timed procession towards the tea buffet, 80 for-no-loss in 10 overs became 159 all out in 33.  Saurav picked up a fine 5-for as the rest of his lead-footed KCC team-mates breathed a collective sigh of relief.

The afternoon rolled along peacefully.  While we sat around the pavilion sharpening our trigonometry skills, trying to work out the height of the 12th man on the field, a rather handsome oak tree at mid-on, KCC openers Tim Keleher and David Behar put on 80 for the first wicket.  No one quite remembers how David was out as back in the scorer’s box, we were all lost in a haze of cosines and tangents (see above).  Saurav notched down a cryptic “C.” against David’s 30 in the scorebook, with the air of a profligate City banker or a Greek politician wishing to evade unnecessary scrutiny.  Tim led the way with his 73, and then skipper Rohan and Amit Shanker saw KCC home with 15 overs to spare.  We quickly refocused our trigonometric skills on an angle closer to our hearts, cold Cobras.
